Brad and Cade Bohn

The Member Spotlight showcases those who demonstrate the characteristics necessary for success, both in and out of the gym. Brad has been a long-time member of our noon class, was the male winner of our recent nutrition challenge, and started bringing his son Cade in earlier this year (who just this month made his way onto the Commitment Club!). Together, they’ve made tremendous progress and we wanted to ask them a few questions about their experience here at CFIS.

  1. What led you to CrossFit? Describe your experience.

Brad - Brad Schmidgall got in my ear about how he thought I would enjoy it, so I gave it a shot and here I am almost 4 years later. I’ve got to meet a lot of fantastic people (members & coaches) with the same mindset. The good, friendly competition has also been great. Cade - My Dad asked if I wanted to come try it out. I like that the coaches are showing me the right way to lift and I always feel better after I work out.

  1. What have been the most significant changes you've noticed? These could be lifestyle, body composition, or performance.

Brad - I've definitely redistributed some weight around to the right places. My strength is much improved and overall, I just feel a lot better with more energy. Cade - I've been getting stronger on all my lifts & gaining muscle weight.

  1. What's your favorite (or least favorite) exercise? If you could program a workout, what would it be?

Brad - My least favorite is easy - wall balls, especially that 20lb one. My favorite workout would be:

3 rounds for time:

400m Run

50 Double Unders

15 Hang Power Cleans

Cade - Any other workout with running would be my least favorite, but my favorite workout is “The Murph”.

  1. Tell us something we don't know about you! Something not fitness related.

Brad - I was once a suspect in a bank robbery. Just to be clear, the suspicion only lasted a few hours, but it makes for a good story. Cade - I'm double-jointed in my elbows & shoulders.

  1. What's next? Have you set any goals for the future?

Brad - My goal is to continue to work out 4 to 5 times a week and I'm hoping Cade is right there with me. We get to enjoy a little father/son bonding at the Box and a good workout, all in one.Cade - Continue to make it to CrossFit 4-5 times per week. My goal is to continue to gain weight and strength.
